Nuremberg, Germany

Because of the city's relevance to the Holy Roman Empire and its position in the center of Germany, Nuremberg held great significance during the Nazi Germany era. Later, it was also the location the Nuremberg Trials for Nazi war criminals.

Nuremberg was the site of huge Nazi Party conventions. The unfinished Congress Hall, designed by the National Socialists to house 50,000 spectators.

What the completed Congress Hall would have looked like.

In the distance you can see the Zeppelin Field grandstand, famous for having the swastika blown from atop it in 1945, after Germany's fall in World War II. We didn't walk over to it due to time and weather.

Outside view of Congress Hall.

Nazi Documentation Center, a sobering yet fascinating museum about the Holocaust, from the Nazi perspective.

Schöner Brunnen Fountain (14th century, 19 meters high). It is said that the copper ring on the north side of the fountain can make wishes come true.
